Throughout this year we have seen wonderful demonstrations of admiration and respect for Rachel Carson and her legacy. This evening’s event is another manifestation of this yearlong celebration. “Silent Spring & Autumn 2012” includes a panel discussion, poetry readings, World Listening Project presentation, and a performance by Chicago Phonography –
- a panel discussion with Alma White, Chair of the Executive Committee of the Stewart House project; David Cohen, Director of the Center for Contemporary Environmental Art (New York City); Sandra Rodriguez, Project Manager at the Stewart House Urban Farm & Gardens (Gary, IN); and Dan Godston (moderator)
- poetry readings by Susan Deer Cloud, Karla Linn Merrifield, Yon Walls, and Deborah Meadows
- a presentation about the World Listening Project’s new sound compilation, which is an homage to Rachel Carson and Silent Spring
- a performance by Chicago Phonography
- a presentation about “Celebrating Silent Spring at 50″ — an ongoing project that concludes at the end of this year
