Thank you for your support on GivingTuesday!
Thanks so much to all who donated to the World Listening Project on GivingTuesday, November 30. Our end-of-year fundraising campaign concludes on December 31, 2021.
Our End of Year Giving Campaign Continues!
Please use the form below to help us raise funds for operations and sustainable operations into the future.
What Your Gift Supports
Your support helps in two important ways. Generally, to maintain the costs associated with more accessible communications and digital programs. This includes paying teaching artists to more fully engage the public, fostering an interest in and development of practices of listening and field recording. By maintaining this website as the critical point for connecting everybody in the global public, we serve artists, scientists and scholars who produce and communicate and engage us with the diverse and important role of sound with listening. Your support enables the World Listening Project to be more effective at providing an online forum on the uses of radio and web-based technologies, and to support public workshops and lectures, exhibitions, symposiums, and festivals across a variety of digital platforms and physically distant locations.
Specifically, our ambitious fundraising goal of $21,000 will enable the World Listening Project to smoothly transition away from our past dependence on all-volunteer operations, toward a more balanced, sustainable, and equitable level of professional management by a paid part-time Executive Director dedicated to managing day-to-day operations, including fundraising and communications aligned with our mission and signature annual event, World Listening Day.
Part Two from the Live Stream Archive launches at 8:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada) Tuesday, December 7.
To express our gratitude and also honor the legacy of R. Murray Schafer (1933-2021), we are releasing the both parts of the World Listening Project’s 24-hours live stream archive. Over 14 hours of sound and video, from more than a hundred contributors and participants in World Listening Day 2021.
Produced by the World Listening Project in association with WGXC Wave Farm, NAISA Radio, and World Forum for Acoustic Ecology, contributions include soundscape compositions and field recordings by nearly 80 well-known and not-so-well-known creators, including Darren Copeland, Jana Winderen, Matthew Burtner, Adriana Sá, Pheobe riley Law, Zach Poff, Nathan Wolek, Ikponmwosa Osamuyime Avan-Nomayo, Charlie Fox, Ingeborg Entrop, a “Meditation On Silence” with R. Murray Schafer, to name only a few.
Many thanks are owed to Peter Courtemanche, Darren Copeland, Raquel Castro, and the many others who volunteered their time and talents to make World Listening Day 2021 a success!
Please listen and consider donating to the World Listening Project so that we may continue to make a positive impact in these challenging times. Thank you!
